Dana Sturm
Piano Repetiteur
biography

Dana Sturm studied piano with Prof. Dieter Zechlin and Prof. Gerald Fauth at the ‘Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler’ in Berlin and graduated with the Konzertexamen in 1996. Important impulses from several years of harpsichord training with Armin Thalheim as well as from studies in song accompaniment and chamber music with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Peter Schreier and many others enriched her education.
Since her youth, Dana Sturm has been a sought-after chamber music partner, soloist and accompanist at home and abroad; numerous productions and recordings for major broadcasting companies document this. She performs with a number of renowned artists and is a member of various chamber music formations, in particular the ‘Ensemble Monbijou’ based at the ‘Staatsoper Unter den Linden’.
In 1993, she began teaching as an accompanist at the ‘Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler’ in Berlin, where she was appointed Gastprofessorin for three years in 2005. She accompanied the classes of Prof. Ulf Wallin and Prof. Antje Weithaas and worked with many others, such as Prof. Eberhard Feltz, Prof. Michael Sanderling or Prof. Christoph Poppen. At the same time, she also held teaching positions at the ‘Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock’, the ‘Universität der Künste Berlin’ and the ‘Musikgymnasium Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’, which is part of the ‘Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler’. In 2023 she joined the staff of the Barenboim-Said Akademie as accompanist.
Dana Sturm works as a lecturer, juror or piano partner in international master classes and competitions, has regularly accompanied auditions of the Staatskapelle Berlin for many years and supports the Staatskapelle Berlin Orchestra Academy as a mentor as well as the ‘Internationale Musikakademie zur Förderung Hochbegabter in Deutschland’.
