Guillem Palomar is a Spanish composer based in Berlin. He studied composition at the Barenboim-Said Akademie with Prof. Jörg Widmann as well as electroacoustics with Prof. Gilbert Nouno and conducting with Prof. Michael Wendeberg. In addition he received private tuition and participated in masterclasses with George Benjamin, Wolfgang Rihm, Péter Eötvös, Hans Abrahamsen, Georg Friedrich Haas, Enno Poppe or Rebecca Saunders, among others. His music has been performed internationally by musicians such as Daniel Barenboim, Péter Eötvös, Duncan Ward or Michael Volle, by ensembles like the Ensemble Modern, the Boulez Ensemble, the Kebyart Ensemble or the Jersusalem Symphony Orchestra, and in music houses like the Kölner Philharmonie, the Boulez Saal and the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Alte Oper Frankfurt or the Philharmonie Luxembourg.

In the summer 2023 Guillem Palomar was awarded with the “Roche Young Commissions” Prize of the Lucerne Festival, and received as well the commission from the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona to write a new chamber opera. Since 2021 Guillem Palomar teaches the course Strategies for Analytical Hearing at the Barenboim-Said Akademie. He has also guided composition workshops for instrumentalists and has taught composition at the Ra’annana Music Center (Israel).
