A performance of the Salzburg Marionette Theatre is a magical experience: with its combination of traditional puppetry, atmospheric set design, and masterful woodworking craft, it takes audiences of all ages on an unforgettable journey. The company, which was founded in 1913 and whose performance practice has been part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2016, is joined by a very special musical guest for its first appearance at the Pierre Boulez Saal: Sir András Schiff performs the piano part in a double bill of staged versions of Schumann’s Papillons and Debussy’s The Toy Box.
